Scholarship recipient selections begin after the Priority Application Deadline and continue throughout the academic year. To increase the possibility of receiving a scholarship award, submit your completed application before the priority deadline. If you miss the priority deadline, you should still apply before the closing date.
Scholarship judges or scholarship selection committees review and score scholarship applications. Judges/committee members are composed of faculty, staff, and/or community representatives. Rating points are given to each applicant for the overall content and quality of their application, attention to spelling, grammar and punctuation, expression of academic goals, participation in extracurricular or community activities, and their responses to the essay questions. Selections are based on the applicant meeting the minimum scholarship criteria, and the points given by scholarship judges/selection committees.
Scholarship recipients are required to complete the acceptance steps through their Pirate Portal > Financial Aid & Scholarships folder > Financial Aid Requirements link.
Acceptance steps include the electronic signature and thank you note upload. The electronic signature indicates you have read, understand, and agree to the terms of the scholarship. Uploading your thank you note allows us to share your gratitude with the donor who provided funding for your scholarship. Failure to complete these steps by the acceptance deadline can result in forfeiture of the award.
