Victoria College offers six modes of instruction – online (ONL), real-time-remote (WBX), alternating (ALT), hybrid (HYB), interactive television (ITV), and traditional face-to-face (TRA/FTV). Credit courses have a Canvas shell, regardless of site or mode of delivery.
Online courses are courses in which the content is delivered asynchronously over the Internet. Real-time remote courses are delivered synchronously via the internet. Alternating courses will alternate between face-to-face and real-time remote, with students attending on campus in small groups on assigned days. Hybrid courses are courses in which the content is delivered through a combination of electronic method and real-world instruction. Interactive television (ITV) courses are courses in which students and faculty meet in an interactive television classroom and interact with other students and/or faculty at a remote location.
To take an online (ONL) or hybrid (HYB) course, students must have access to a computer and a reliable, high speed Internet connection. Additionally, to take a real-time remote (WBX) course, students must have a webcam. Students can use any computers in the open computer labs or the library to complete their coursework, but these computers do not have webcams. Laptops and webcams are available for checkout, subject to availability, by filling out the Student Technology Needs Form. Some courses may require certain specific hardware and software on a student’s machine. Those requirements are the responsibility of the student and stated in the syllabus. Additionally, students may need to come to one or more physical locations operated by the college several times as determined by the course instructors for specific activities, including testing.
