Nayelli Degollado
After two years at Victoria College, Nayelli Degollado has taken her talents and experience to The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where she is performing as a member of the Vaquero Star Line Drill Team.
The Port Lavaca native and Calhoun High School graduate spent two years at Victoria College before transferring to UTRGV to pursue a degree in marketing.
During her time at VC, Degollado stayed busy in and out of the classroom. She was involved in the Latin American Student Organization and served as Vice President of the Student Success Society and President of the Catholic Student Association. She also completed an internship with VC’s Career Services and Marketing and Communications departments.
Those experiences gave her opportunities to grow as a leader, explore her interests, and gain professional skills she could carry with her after graduation.
Looking back, Degollado said her time at VC helped her learn more about herself and prepared her for the opportunities ahead.
“I’m incredibly grateful for my time as a VC Pirate,” Degollado said. “I learned so much about myself, grew my skills, and gained valuable knowledge that I have already carried into this next chapter of my life. I’m proud to say I came from a community college!”
Now, as she continues her education at UTRGV, Degollado is building on the experiences and connections she made at Victoria College while pursuing her passion for marketing and performing with the Vaquero Star Line Drill Team.
