Claudia Moseley, Museum of the Coastal Bend Education Coordinator
Victoria College's Museum of the Coastal Bend is introducing new traveling trunks designed to help Crossroads-area teachers bring Texas history to life through hands-on learning. Reservations for the trunks opened on Thursday, Oct. 15.
The traveling trunks feature lessons, activities, and hands-on objects that align with Texas history classroom topics and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.
The three new trunks explore Coastal Bend Ranching; Exploration, Discovery and Colonization; and Columbian Exchange, joining an existing trunk that explores Early Peoples. Local teachers can check out the trunks for classroom use, along with homeschool groups.
Sponsored in part by DeTar Healthcare System, the traveling trunks offer educators an interactive way to engage students with the people, events, and cultural exchanges that shaped Texas history.
Teachers and homeschool groups can learn more and reserve a traveling trunk at bit.ly/TravelingTrunk.
