The Victoria High School Class of 1965 is giving back to the next generation by establishing an endowed scholarship at Victoria College.
Inspired by a similar scholarship endowment established by the VHS Class of 1960, Gerald Haschke approached his longtime classmates about creating a scholarship of their own.
The classmates formed a scholarship committee to explore the idea further. In the fall of 2024, Haschke contacted the VC Foundation to begin the process.
Since then, members of the Class of 1965 have collectively contributed enough to establish an endowed scholarship that will provide financial support to future Victoria College students.
“We want any local kids who have a dream of going to school to be able to have that opportunity,” said Haschke.
For the Class of 1965, the scholarship is an ongoing commitment to local students. While the initial endowment goal has been met, classmates are continuing to raise funds to increase the scholarship's value and extend its reach.
