Victoria College has named longtime Gonzales resident Cindy Finch as its new Gonzales Center Coordinator.

As VC evolves its presence in Gonzales – prioritizing student flexibility and high-demand career training for the local workforce – Finch will be responsible for coordinating instructional use of the center and assisting students and community members.

Finch joined VC in 2016 as a testing proctor before becoming the VC Gonzales Center’s administrative assistant.

“I’ve truly enjoyed working with our students over the past decade, and I’m excited to continue serving Gonzales residents by helping them achieve their goals and pursue higher wages and advanced training in this new role,” said Finch.

In January, VC announced a revised model for the Gonzales Center that focuses on high-demand career training and increased flexibility for students beginning this summer.

“The current Gonzales Center team has made a lasting impact through years of service to students and the community,” said Dr. Jennifer Kent, VC President. “With the continued support of our community, we are building on that strong foundation to align programs with workforce needs and create new pathways for student success.”

Victoria College will continue to offer workforce training at the VC Gonzales Center, including truck driving, welding, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, nurse aide, medical assisting and pharmacy technician. Free Adult Basic Education services such as GED preparation and English-as-a-Second-Language classes also remain available, while degree-seeking students are also transitioning from in-person ITV courses to more flexible online options.
