Victoria College’s Museum of the Coastal Bend will kick off the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary with a special event and new exhibit exploring the history and legacy of the American Revolution.

The America 250 Celebration and John W. Stormont Lecture will take place Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the museum’s Borchers Leon Exhibit Hall. The event marks the opening of “Celebrating America 250 – The American Revolution Experience,” an exhibit organized by the Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

At 4:30 p.m., Caren Adamson, a member of the Guadalupe Victoria Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, will present insights into the exhibit’s immersive look at the pivotal moments that shaped the nation’s fight for independence.

At 5 p.m., Debbie Colley, Victoria College Adjunct Music Professor and VISD Band Director, will guide attendees through “Music of the American Revolution,” featuring a patriotic fife and drum performance that brings the era’s soundscape to life.

The “Celebrating America 250” exhibit will remain on display through Saturday, Jan. 24.
