Victoria College’s Process Technology Program has earned statewide recognition from Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

During a recent presentation, Dr. Jennifer Kent, Victoria College President, awarded Associate Professor Lawrence Wick with a framed certificate signed by Gov. Abbott. The certificate reads in part: “As Governor of Texas, I thank you for your leadership in incorporating and teaching Texas-recognized industry standards in your program curriculum. The education provided by your instructors prepares students to meet the demands of a highly skilled workforce.”

Wick, who has taught in the program for 10 years, said the honor reflects the program’s commitment to student success.

“Being part of the Process Technology Program has truly been rewarding,” Wick said. “What I enjoy most is seeing our students transform and gain the skills and confidence to achieve success in their careers and in life.”

The recognition comes from the Texas Skill Standards Board (TSSB), which acknowledges workforce education programs at community and technical colleges that integrate industry-defined skill standards into their curriculum, instruction and assessments.

VC’s Process Technology Program offers a one-year certificate and a two-year associate degree that prepare students for a career as a process technician or plant operator. To learn more, visit VictoriaCollege.edu/IndustrialTrades.
