Four Victoria ISD seniors graduated with an associate degree at Victoria College’s commencement ceremony on May 17. All four students were enrolled in dual credit courses through VC, which allows them to earn college credits while still in high school.
“This is what it means to find your ‘&’ at VISD,” said Ladonna Fory, Director of P-TECH and College Readiness. “Through our partnership, students are not only earning college credits—they’re building confidence, gaining momentum and shaping a future filled with possibilities. These graduates are proof of what can happen when opportunity meets determination.”
Dual-credit courses are open to all VISD high school students who meet specified college readiness standard scores. Courses are taught by Victoria College professors or credentialed high school teachers.
This partnership between VC and VISD is designed to enable high school students to enroll in college courses and receive both college and high school credits for the same course.
“I am incredibly proud of these graduates,” said Bridgette Marshall, VC Dean of College Access & Community Partnerships. “They are a testament to what dedication and perseverance can achieve. By collaborating with Victoria ISD, we are able to provide these pathways to success that empower students to find their ‘and’ and reach their full potential. Congratulations to all our graduates, and thank you, VISD, for this invaluable collaboration.”
