Both grants will support training opportunities and increase skill levels at local businesses
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded Victoria College a pair of grants that support training opportunities and increase skill levels at local businesses.
VC is seeking local business partners to apply for the Skills for Small Business (SSB) grant. The grant, which totals $31,500, will cover the cost of tuition for published open-enrollment courses such as Computer Applications or Business Principles. Small private businesses with under 100 employees are eligible to apply.
Small businesses interested in starting the application process can contact Nicole Uresti, Contract Training Coordinator, at Nicole.Uresti@VictoriaCollege.edu for details or assistance in completing the application. Interested businesses must apply by August 31, 2025.
The SSB grant includes $21,000, or 67 percent, in state general training funds and $10,500, or 33 percent, in Federal funds for childcare providers.
Additionally, VC was awarded a $138,758 fully state-funded Skills Development Fund grant to provide customized training to approximately 100 employees at Seadrift Coke.
Training for Seadrift Coke includes business technical courses such as Programmable Logic Controllers, general technical courses such as Process Technology Troubleshooting and Project Management, and nontechnical courses such as Excel Advanced.
