Two Victoria College teams advance to National Process Technology Troubleshooting Skills Competition

2025 VC Process Technology Troubleshooting National Finalists This is only the second time VC has had two teams qualify for nationals.

Victoria College will send two student teams to compete in the North American Process Technology Alliance (NAPTA) National Process Technology Troubleshooting Skills Competition.

The contest, featuring top teams from across the country, will be held April 24–25 at the San Jacinto College Center for Petrochemical, Energy and Technology in Pasadena, Texas.

VC’s Process Technology Program prepares students for careers as process technicians or plant operators. The troubleshooting skills competition allows advanced students to demonstrate hands-on expertise in real-time process problem-solving.

Troubleshooting skills are essential for developing a highly skilled petrochemical workforce in the United States. Workers with these abilities help maintain consistent, high-quality production and contribute to the safety, security and regulatory compliance of plant operations.

Victoria College has a tradition of excellence in the competition, with teams advancing to the national level consistently over the past decade.

VC students participating in the competition are Chance Henderson, Denton Lesak, Colby Sarlls, Zaydic Cardenas, Waheed Palmer, Dominic Tomanek, Kaiden Shafer and Fernando Rojas.

“This is only the second time that we have had two teams qualify,” said Lawrence Wick, Associate Process Technology Professor, who coaches both troubleshooting teams. “Only 12 teams qualify nationally to compete, so we are extremely proud of this year’s students. I think they have a really good chance and will represent VC well."
