Stubblefield holds the 100-meter record at VC
When Tyson Stubblefield steps onto the track, a quiet confidence surrounds him. That disappears as soon as he settles into the starter blocks. Adrenaline and focus take over, and records fall.
“I’ve been training really hard, trying to beat myself every run,” said Stubblefield. “Every race, I look at my mistakes and focus on what I need to do to improve. It’s my goal for records to continue to be broken as long as I’m running here.”
It’s Stubblefield’s first year on the Victoria College Track and Field Team, and he already holds the 100-meter record at 11.29 seconds. Each personal best for Stubblefield means a new time to beat in the VC record books.
While Stubblefield has seen great success on the track, he’s also experiencing a personal best in the classroom. He takes great pride in his GPA and his pursuit of a business management degree.
Growing up in Missouri City, Texas, track has been a part of his life for as long as he can remember. Stubblefield considers himself lucky to have found a new home at Victoria College, where he can achieve excellence on the track and in the classroom.
“You’re going to be a better person, you’re going to get new connections, and you’re going to be a better athlete at Victoria College. Everybody here is here to help you grow mentally, physically and academically.”
