Museum to host Texas Independence Day Book Festival and Food & Wine Market on March 6

Victoria College’s Museum of the Coastal Bend will host the Texas Independence Day Book Festival and Food & Wine Market on Thursday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event will celebrate Texas literature, food and wine, offering a day of literary events alongside the flavors of local Texas vendors.

Attendees can enjoy author book signings and sales, with author readings scheduled throughout the day. Participating authors and publishers include Annie Coffey, Joseph Crisp, Tamara Joy Diaz, Stephen L. Hardin, Mary Pat Johns, Raymond Pilarczyk, Ashok Pruthi, DeeAnn Smith, Victoria Preservation, Inc., and A.B. Wade.

Food and wine enthusiasts can sample and purchase offerings from Gulf Breeze Winery, Majek Vineyards & Winery, San Ducerro Winery, Baked Sunshine, Baubles and Bites, Crossroads Homemade Goodies, and South Texas Pecans.

From noon to 5 p.m., attendees can sign up for open mic sessions.

The festival culminates with a keynote address by Dr. Stephen Hardin at 5:30 p.m. The presentation, part of the museum’s John W. Stormont Lecture Series, will focus on Hardin’s new book, “Texian Exodus.”

“The Texas Independence Day Book Festival and Food & Wine Market offers a unique opportunity to celebrate Texas heritage, culture and flavors,” said Claudia Moseley, the museum’s Education Coordinator.

Funded in part by the Anne Kouba Memorial Fund, the event is free and open to the public.

The Museum of the Coastal Bend is located on VC’s Main Campus at 2200 E. Red River Street in Victoria. The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is “pay-what-you-want.”
