VC Law Enforcement Academy graduates honored at ceremony

Ten cadets from Victoria College’s 105th Law Enforcement Academy Class were honored at a graduation ceremony on Dec. 11, 2024, at VC’s Emerging Technology Complex.

Job Smith of Victoria was named class valedictorian, and Cobey Wasicek of Victoria received the John Baylor Award for Outstanding Achievement. The award, named in honor of the former Victoria Police Department officer, is given to the “most outstanding student” as selected by class instructors.

Other graduates were Austin Christensen and Briley Yancey of Victoria; Mario Barron, Justin Cano and Vanessa Ragsdale, all of Beeville; Adrian Castillo and Abad Obregon of Gonzales; and Joseph Salinas of Kenedy.

VC offers two academies a year – one in the fall semester and another in the spring semester. Both academies are held Monday through Friday, with classes meeting eight to ten hours a day.
