VC hosts professional development day for science teachers

Victoria College recently hosted a professional development day for Victoria Independent School District (VISD) science teachers. Educators from Victoria West High School, STEM Academy, Howell Middle School and Patti Welder Middle School attended the event.

The professional development day, supported by a grant awarded through the US Department of Education Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) STEM & Articulation Program, provided participants with classroom materials and ideas for engaging activities. The day featured a hands-on approach, with teachers actively participating in chemistry-focused activities such as interactive periodic tables, exploring physical and chemical changes, and conducting household science experiments.

“This was a valuable opportunity for Victoria College to connect with Victoria ISD and leverage our funding to directly support their educational efforts,” said Michael Croisant, Assistant Professor of Chemistry. “The insights gained from this event will inform future collaborative professional development opportunities with VISD.”

Victoria College plans to host another similar professional development day in February 2025.
