Jack Horner, Paleontologist
Victoria College will kick off its 2024-25 Lyceum Lecture Series on Friday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. with paleontologist and author Jack Horner.
Known for his groundbreaking work in dinosaur research and his role as a technical advisor for the first six Jurassic Park films, Horner will present “The Real Jurassic Park.”
A renowned paleontologist with severe dyslexia, he spent seven years studying geology and paleontology at the University of Montana without earning a degree. Despite this, he has received four honorary doctorates and has published over 320 works.
Horner has held positions at Princeton University and Montana State University, where he chaired graduate student studies. He has received numerous awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship and the Romer-Simpson Medal.
After retiring from Montana State in 2016, Horner became a Presidential Fellow at Chapman University in California, where he currently resides.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will include a presentation and a question-and-answer session. The lecture will take place at the Victoria Fine Arts Center located at 1002 Sam Houston Drive.
