VC honors 21 GED graduates during July 13 ceremony

Victoria College recognized 21 adult education graduates for earning their GEDs on Saturday, July 13 at VC’s Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts.

A total of 57 adult education students received their GEDs during the 2023-24 school year.

GED graduate Fatima Blair was the ceremony’s guest speaker, and Melissa Garcia-Gonzalez was recognized as the Adult Education Scholarship recipient.

The graduates honored during the ceremony were Sabrina Aldis, Fatima Blair, Ashley Brackett, Samara Carillo, Jacob Cartee, Ajah Casiano, Jadelyn Garcia, Melissa Garcia-Gonzalez, Jewel Guerrero, Raymond Knetig, Alexis Krogsgaard, Michelle Merrick, Chelsea Peterson, Joyce Reyes, Anita Trapp, Shyanna Tucker, Gloria Valdez, Taosha Westbrook, David Williams and Lashanda Wolfe.

Adult Basic Education courses at Victoria College cover basic academic subjects to help adult students improve their skills in preparation to take the GED and reach a college-ready level. Obtaining a GED and enhancing basic skills help ensure working adults are able to remain in the workforce and improve individual earning potential.

Victoria College Adult Education offers both in-person and virtual classes. A distance learning option is also offered at VC that allows students to complete coursework using internet from home on their own time.

Services are offered in the Golden Crescent area including Victoria, Gonzales, Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson and Lavaca counties.
