Local artist creates mission walls for Museum of the Coastal Bend exhibit

Luis Sabor Luis Sabor

Victoria artist Luis Sabor, with the assistance of museum volunteers, recently finished creating mission walls reminiscent of 18th-century Spanish missions for an upcoming exhibit at Victoria College’s Museum of the Coastal Bend. “Where Texas Ranching Began,” a permanent exhibit that will share the history of the Coastal Bend’s ranching heritage, will be constructed over the next two years in the museum’s newly built Borchers Leon Exhibit Hall. The exhibit will open incrementally, beginning with La Misión in October 2024. Sabor, founder of Pure Mind Retreats near San Juan del Sur, works to promote sustainable systems of living by teaching permaculture, natural building and renewable energy.
