MCB offering family-friendly Spring Break activities March 12-16.
Victoria College’s Museum of the Coastal Bend is hosting a week of family-friendly activities celebrating the French Exploration of early Texas during Spring Break from March 12-16.
Attendees can test their skills in the Explorer Escape Room, play classic French games, and create a create a cup-and-ball toy.
Exhibits & Collections Manager Dr. Heather Para will provide a tour of the museum’s LaSalle Odyssey Exhibit at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 14. Participants will have an opportunity to discover the fascinating tale of the French attempt to found a colony at the mouth of the Mississippi River in 1685. In the museum’s permanent exhibit, participants will examine maritime, military and personal artifacts excavated from the colony and shipwreck of the Belle.
The week’s activities are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following days.
- Tuesday: Craft Day—Catapult craft and cup-and-ball game
- Wednesday: Nautical Navigation—Ship's wheel craft, knot-tying contest, and scavenger hunt
- Thursday: LaSalle Odyssey Exhibit Tour and children’s book-reading (both at 2 p.m.)
- Friday & Saturday: Explorer Escape Room
- Saturday: French Game Day—Shut the Box and Escargot
The Spring Break activities are open to the public, and admission is free.
