Victoria College charts a steady course to meet present needs of the communities in our seven-county service area informed by past experiences and prepared for future expectations. Through comprehensive planning processes, our college engages in strategic foresight or futuring across operational areas, working to build access, completion, and post-college success for our students. Planning leadership purposely removes silos through the cross-functional President’s Advisory Council (PAC).
Victoria College works with Talent Strong Texas Pathways, the community college statewide strategic plan to ensure our communities and students attain credentials of value towards lasting, successful careers and family sustaining wages. Our college is also engaged in Unlocking Opportunities, an Aspen Institute initiative to enhance all programs to support students entering and completing programs that lead directly to good jobs or completion of a bachelor’s degree all tied to community, regional, and state needs.
Building a campus that puts students first is achieved through Facilities Planning and the VC Master Plan. In coordination with brick-and-mortar facilities, the college also engages in technology planning to develop appropriate digital infrastructure. The college is home to the Museum of the Coastal Bend and the Leo J Welder Center for the Performing Arts which both engage in focused strategic planning.
Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) planning coordinates and advances initiatives for student recruitment, retention, and course delivery. The SEM core team meets every other month. As part of VC’s efforts to improve outcomes for transfer students, the college is continuing work on the Transfer Intensive, now as an Alumni.
Victoria College also partners with the Institute for Evidence-Based Change’s Caring Campus work, benefiting our students by fostering meaningful connections with professional staff, increasing students’ sense of belonging and support to improve persistence, engagement, and college success.
