Victoria College’s industrial trades programs received a $70,000 donation recently from the Wood Family Trust.
The funds went to the recently completed renovation of the William Wood Building on VC’s Main Campus.
“Victoria College is very grateful for the Wood Family Trust’s continued support of higher education,” said VC President Jennifer Kent. “These funds will be used to greatly enhance our industrial trades facility and further assist Victoria College in meeting our region’s demand for highly trained workers in the various industrial trades professions.”
Students in VC’s welding, instrumentation and electronics technology classes began utilizing the renovated classrooms and labs this semester.
“The Wood Family Trust values Victoria College’s industrial trades programs,” said Rob Angerstein, Prosperity Bank senior vice president and trust officer. “It is gratifying to provide funding that enriches the lab experiences for students seeking rewarding careers in these essential employment fields. Providing industrial partners with a job-ready workforce saves them time and expense, enhancing their productivity. It’s the equation whereby communities prosper.”
