VC offering workshop to promote awareness of sex trafficking

Victoria College and Mid-Coast Family Services are partnering to recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month by offering an online workshop on Wednesday, April 14 to bring awareness to sex trafficking in Texas.

There will be two 75-minute sessions of the workshop, which is free and open to the public. The first session will begin at 12:15 p.m. An evening session will start at 6 p.m.

“These sessions will not only inform the workshop participants on the growing sex trafficking crisis in Texas, but also offer them ways in which they can help fight against it,” said Melanie Gerdes, a licensed professional counselor at VC.

A video titled “Be the One in the Fight Against Human Trafficking” will be shown and discussed. Alyssa Y. Frederiksen, Victim Services director at Mid-Coast Family Services, will be the speaker.
