VC inducts 25 students into National Adult Education Honor Society

Group 2 Victoria College honored 25 inductees into the National Adult Education Honor Society on June 14 at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts.

Twenty-five students of Victoria College’s Adult Education Program were inducted into the National Adult Education Honor Society on June 14 at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts.

To qualify for membership, students must be nominated by an instructor or staff member and chosen by a selection committee. All inductees must demonstrate consistent attendance, a cooperative attitude and work ethic.

Inductees received an NAEHS gold, black and white lapel pin, a letter of recommendation from NAEHS headquarters to be used for employment or promotion, a letter of recommendation for financial assistance to be used in securing funding for further education, and his or her name on the official 2018 NAEHS roster displayed in the Continuing Education Center lobby.

The 25 inductees were Gregory Abrego, Ruby Aguilera, Abiel Cantu Salinas Jr., Li Chen, Shu-Chen Chen, Tyffani Davis, Rory De La Vega, William Crisman, Michael Flores, Jason F. Garcia, Erick Looza, Lilia Perez Lopez, Mariela Lozano, Angela M. Martinez, Ana Meza, Lydia Naranjo, Vilma Negrette, Jasmine Rodriguez, Martha Susana Rodriguez, Magali Salinas, Sylvia Salinas, San Juana Santillan, Karim Seydou Tekoy, Sonia Vasquez and Damian Vela.

Victoria College’s Adult Education Program helps adults get back on track in the pursuit of their academic and career dreams. Students can learn English and obtain knowledge and skills necessary for employment, attain a high school equivalency or secondary school diploma, receive job training through workforce training programs and prepare for employment in high-demand industries and occupations.

Career navigators work directly with students to provide career guidance and coaching. They also help link our students with workforce partners, such as Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and local employers.
