VC’s Vocational Nursing Program graduates receive pins at ceremony

Sixty-one graduates of Victoria College’s Vocational Nursing Program were honored on May 10 with a pinning ceremony at the Conference & Education Center at VC’s Emerging Technology Complex.

Reina Brooks of Goliad was named the class valedictorian, and Mercedes Skoog of Victoria was announced the salutatorian.

Graduating from Victoria College’s Vocational Nursing Program in Cuero were Tomie Baldera of Kenedy; Kemetris Bryant of Edna; Chelsey Cisneros of Shiner; Courtney Hernandez of Yoakum; Jennifer Morales, Skoog and Lisa Tarlton of Victoria; Clarissa Payne and Kay Slup-Reza of Yorktown; and Becky Strakos of Cuero.

Vocational Nursing Program graduates from Victoria College’s Gonzales Center were Veronica Alvarado of Bastrop; Callie Aubin, Celeste Garcia, Keegan Hall and Heavenly Molina of Gonzales; Megan Beames of Nixon; Brittany Bollard of Kingsbury; JoAnn Davis of Luling; Cheslyn Dees of Weimar; Adam Elliott of Kyle; Champaign Flores and Alexis Long of Yoakum; Tasha Meitler and Jennie Vasquez of Lockhart; Ashton Miller of Cost; Lilly McAnelly of Cedar Creek; and I’vonne Torres of Smiley.

Karlie Clendenen, Madison Greenwell and Jessica Sanchez of Hallettsville; Kacelyn Cuellar of Cuero; Megan Koranek of Moulton; and Celine Toussom of Brenham graduated from VC’s Zelda L. Allen School of Nursing in Hallettsville.

Graduates from  VC’s Main Campus were Brooks, Michael DeLaGarza, Amy Garcia, Bianca Gonzalez, Daniela Herrera, Shardae Jones, Ysanne Lattibeaudiere, Guiying Liu, Stephanie Lopez, Payton Martin, Elizabeth Moore, Vannie Nguyen, Morgan Patterson, Susan Perez, Jade Rab, Alexis Rivera, Anhila Rocha, Michelle Rodriguez, Angelica Saldierna, Bridgette Smith, Alyssa Turnbow, Ricki VanHorn and Christal Waul, all of Victoria; Kami Zantjer of Edna; Toni Taylor of Wharton; and Jennifer James of Inez.

Victoria College’s Vocational Nursing Program is a 12-month certificate program offered on VC’s Main Campus and in Cuero, Gonzales and Hallettsville. The program is fully approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Successful completion of the program enables students to take the National Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Satisfactory achievement on the exam qualifies students for licensure as a vocational nurse.
