Ten VC students earn Paramedic Certificates

Paramedics Grads 2 Eight students of Victoria College’s Emergency Medical Services Program received their Paramedic Certificates and two also earned an Associate of Applied Science degree during VC’s Commencement on May 11.

Ten students graduated from Victoria College’s Emergency Medical Services Program with a Paramedic Certificate during VC’s Commencement on May 11 at the Victoria Fine Arts Center.

John Yusko of Victoria was announced class valedictorian and also was the recipient of the J. Alan Baker Peer Award for Excellence.

M. Ben Becker of Edna was named class salutatorian. Ivonne Murillo of Del Rio received the Best in Skills Award, and Lisa Singer of Victoria was given the Best in Clinic Award. Murillo and Singer also graduated with Associate of Applied Science degrees.

Other graduates were Jeramy Minor and Brandon Richards of Victoria, Sarah Biffle and Kevin Silva of Port Lavaca, Ralph Crolley of Ganado and Diana Garcia of Del Rio.

The graduates first acquired an Emergency Medical Technician Certificate before beginning the three-semester Paramedic Program. They completed over 1,200 hours of class, lab and clinical studies and are now eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMT exam to hold certification.
