Brent Williams has been hired as a new part-time instructor for Victoria College’s Truck Driving Program.
Brent Williams is excited to return to where his truck-driving career took off.
Williams, one of the first graduates of Victoria College’s Truck Driving Program, was recently hired by Houston Community College as a part-time instructor for the program at Victoria College.
“Victoria College is where it all started for me in 2007,” Williams said. “I actually get to come back and give back to the program. I love to teach and I love driving. I have quite a bit of knowledge, so I would like to share it.”
Williams, 42, has driven trucks for over 10 years.
“I’ve always been a driver-trainer for every company I’ve worked for,” Williams said. “It’s my job to get the drivers mentally ready to get on the road.”
Clyde Revelle, lead instructor for the program, said he feels confident that Williams will be a great asset in maintaining the program’s reputation for producing quality truck-driving candidates.
“I am very happy to have him back,” Revelle said. “I wanted to bring in someone who is accomplished and knows what they’re doing. I think he fills that bill.”
Williams said he has enjoyed reuniting with Revelle.
“Clyde is an excellent instructor,” Williams said. “Being back with him has brought back a lot of the terminology and training methods he used in my class.”
Victoria College’s course, which lasts seven weeks, prepares students for the written and driving Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) examinations. Graduates complete the course with a Class A CDL. The next course begins on June 25.
