A GenTX-Victoria Way to Pay Day will be held Feb. 22 at the University of Houston-Victoria University Center.
Area students and their families can discover opportunities to make college more affordable on Thursday, Feb. 22 when the University of Houston-Victoria, Victoria College and other GenTX-Victoria partners present GenTX Way to Pay Day.
The free event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the UHV University Center located at 3007 N. Ben Wilson St.
During the event, students can attend a “Find Your Way to Pay” presentation, get feedback on a scholarship application or essay, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid with assistance from a college financial aid counselor and complete a college application.
“Organizations that award scholarships to local students are invited to have a booth at the event to promote their scholarships and answer questions from students and parents,” said Darin Kazmir, co-chair of the GenTX-Victoria Steering Committee. “VC and UHV financial aid counselors will work one-on-one with students to help them complete the FAFSA, an important first step to exploring available financial aid options.”
To complete the FAFSA, students and parents will need their 2016 tax return and Social Security number.
The “Find Your Way to Pay” presentation will be offered four times at 5:10, 5:40, 6:10 and 6:40 p.m.
GenTX-Victoria, a part of the statewide Generation TX movement, is a communitywide collaboration aimed at encouraging an entire generation of Texans to purse education or training after high school.
