VC, Victoria Transit partnering to provide transportation for students

DSC_0060 Victoria College students will be able to purchase discounted Victoria Transit passes for transportation to and from VC’s Main Campus beginning in January.

Victoria College will partner with Victoria Transit to assist VC students with transportation to and from VC’s Main Campus starting in the Spring 2018 semester.

VC students  who provide a photo ID and current course schedule can purchase discounted semester and one-way passes at the Victoria College Bookstore. Financial aid funds can be used to purchase the passes.

Thirty-two one-way passes will cost $35. Semester passes for the fall and spring semesters will be $300 each. Summer semester passes will cost $170.

“Victoria College is excited to partner with Victoria Transit to provide affordable transportation for our students,” said VC President Dr. David Hinds. “We want to do all we can to assure that every obstacle preventing our students from completing their educational goals is removed.”

Victoria College’s partnership with Victoria Transit is a result of VC’s 2015-20 Strategic Plan in which transportation was identified as one of the barriers some students face.

“We want to establish these type of partnerships with community organizations to enhance the success rate of our students,” said VC Financial Aid Director Kim Obsta. “Making affordable and dependable transportation available to our students is a big step toward eliminating the roadblocks from their pathways to success.”

A Victoria Transit bus stop is already located at Entrance 4 on VC’s Main Campus at the intersection of Ben Jordan and Red River streets.
