VC Jazz Combo, Crossroads Community Jazz Ensemble to combine for Oct. 12 outdoor performance

The Victoria College Jazz Combo and the Crossroads Community Jazz Ensemble will combine to perform a free Outdoor Big Band Concert at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 outside VC’s Fine Arts Building.

The music selections will range from swing, funk and Latin numbers from Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington to Jaco Pastorius, Herbie Hancock and Doc Severinson.

“This will be a fun event featuring some very talented musicians from Victoria College and the community,” said VC Jazz Combo Director Kenneth Peach. “This is our first concert of the season, and we want to remind guests to bring their lawn chairs, blankets or dinner baskets and enjoy an evening of wonderful jazz music.”

VC’s Fine Arts Building is located on VC’s Main Campus at 2200 E. Red River Street in Victoria. The Fine Arts Building can be accessed by using Entrance 7 on Red River Street.

A Fall Jazz Concert that will feature the Victoria Jazz Combo as well as jazz ensembles from Victoria East and Victoria West high schools will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Victoria Fine Arts Center.
